چکیده
Abstract. Wind-wave processes have generally been excluded from coupled Earth system models due to the high computational expense of spectral wave models, which resolve a frequency and direction spectrum waves across space time. Existing uniform-resolution modeling approaches used in cannot appropriately represent climates global coastal ocean scales, largely because tradeoffs between resolution costs. To this challenge, we introduce unstructured mesh capability for WAVEWATCH III (WW3) model that is suitable coupling within US Department Energy's Energy Exascale System Model (E3SM). The new WW3 approach can provide accuracy higher resolutions areas at relative cost lower uniform resolutions. This enables simulation physically relevant scales as needed applications.

Evaluating the results of Hormuz strait wave simulations using WAVEWATCH-III and MIKE21-SW
In this study, the capabilities of WAWEWATCH-III and MIKE21-SW for predicting the characteristics ofwind-generated waves in Hormuz Strait are evaluated. The numerical models have been set up using Input data including GFS wind with 5° spatial resolution and 6 hours time intervals, along with the ETOPO1 bathymetry data with 2 arc-minute spatial resolutions. The results of the two model simulatio...

We use the Earth Simulator to model seismic wave propagation resulting from large earthquakes on a global scale. Simulations are conducted based upon the spectral-element method, a high-degree finiteelement technique. We include the full complexity of the Earth, i.e., a three-dimensional seismic wave velocity and density structure, a 3-D crustal model, the elliptical figure of the Earth as well...
